On March 10th, Governor Cuomo of New York signed an agreement aimed at preventing the introduction of invasive species and reducing their spread within the Adirondacks. The MOU with 53 NY state agencies, municipalities, property owners, lake associations, conservation and sporting groups, and businesses outlines a regional approach focused on the ‘cleaned, drained, dry’ standard. A white paper written by a group of spread prevention organizations, highlighting boat steward data collected on by a variety of groups including the Lake Champlain Basin Program Lake Stewards, was instrumental in moving this agreement forward.
