Recording of Annual Meeting 2026: New Tools for Lake Health

The Patrick Leahy Lake Champlain Basin Program (LCBP), in coordination with NEIWPCC, offers funding for projects that interpret the region’s natural and cultural resources, as well as Artist-in-Residence programs that engage the public through the arts.

This series of five seminars will be held on select Mondays from 12–1 PM throughout the semester. Each presentation will be recorded and made available after the event.

On September 10th, 2026, 9:30am – 2:45pm the Federation of Vermont Lakes and Ponds will hold our Annual Meeting, in person at the Vermont Historical Society in Barre, VT and via Zoom. This meeting is sponsored by the Vermont DEC, Watershed Management Division, Lakes and Ponds Program.

Lake Champlain Sea Grant is hosting a unique trip aboard the R/V Marcelle Melosira for municipal staff and board members. The trip is designed to bring together municipal road foremen and crews with selectboard and conservation commission members and other community leaders for an exchange of knowledge related to sustainable winter road salting practices.We will also talk about water quality and how road salt can impact life in streams and lakes.

Shorelines are critical habitats for wildlife and natural corridors of movement through the landscape, frequently supporting higher levels of biodiversity than surrounding habitats.

Essex County NRCD will be putting on two lakeshore restoration workshops in August on Wallace Pond in Canaan.  Details for both are below, and all are welcome to join.  Full details are on our website: https://www.vacd.org/essex-county-events/

Vermont is home to over 800 lakes and ponds - unique, beautiful, and scenic. The Governor has declared July Lakes Appreciation Month, so we wanted to highlight some of the weird, wonderful – and yes, magical things you may not be aware of that are going on just under the surface of these amazing waterbodies.
