The Lake Shoreland Protection Commission established by the Vermont Legislature in May 2013 has set the schedule for their upcoming public meetings. The dates and general locations are provided below. Specific locations are still to be determined in some areas.

Newport Area: Friday, August 9, 1:30 – 3:30 pm, East Side Restaurant, 47 Landing Street, Newport, VT

Rutland Area: Thursday, August 22, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Kehoe Conservation Camp, Lake Bomoseen, 636 Point of Pines Road, Castleton, VT

Burlington/Colchester area: Thursday, September 12, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, location TBD

Addison County Area: Thursday, September 19, 6:00 – 8:00 pm, location TBD

During the meetings, legislators and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation will explain Vermont’s water quality programs and outline the importance of safeguarding lakeshores as a part of the state’s overarching clean water strategy, and then take questions and comments from the audience.

This is your opportunity to learn more about lake shoreland protection and provide input on how the state can best protect water quality, aquatic habitat, and shoreland habitat while also preserving reasonable use of shoreland property.

Updates regarding the meeting schedule can be viewed at the lake shoreland commission legislative website (https://leg2.vermont.gov/sites/legislature/LSP/default.aspx).
