Subject: Conservation and development; wetlands protection and water resources management; State policy; net gain of wetlands

Statement of purpose of bill as introduced: This bill proposes to establish as State policy that wetlands shall be regulated and managed by the State to produce a net gain of wetlands acreage. The bill would require the Secretary of Natural Resources to amend the Vermont Wetlands Rules to incorporate the net gain policy. In addition, the bill would require the Vermont Significant Wetlands Inventory maps to be updated and revised annually.
