Trees for Streams Monitoring and Maintenance Days – Volunteers Wanted!
The Orleans County Conservation District is currently seeking volunteers for our upcoming Trees for Streams Monitoring and Maintenance Days.
Over the past several years, OCNRCD has planted more than 50 acres of native streamside buffers throughout Orleans County. These projects improve water quality, reduce erosion and flood impacts, and support healthy aquatic ecosystems. The first few years after planting are critical, and volunteers play an important role in helping these restoration sites succeed.
Help care for newly planted streamside trees while supporting healthier waterways in Orleans County.

Join Orleans County NRCD staff for hands-on volunteer days monitoring and maintaining riparian buffer plantings along local streams and rivers.
Volunteers will help assess tree survival, manage competing vegetation, and learn how streamside buffers protect water quality and reduce erosion.
No prior experience necessary.
Participants should be comfortable walking uneven ground and lifting 25+ lbs.
