Lake Shores, Gravel Roads, and Clean Water Projects in the Memphremagog Basin

Lake Watershed Action Plans have identified properly constructed dirt roads as a main source of phosphorus reduction.
The Lake Memphremagog watershed in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom covers most of Tactical Basin 17 which is home to 90 lakes and ponds. In this webinar, staff from the Memphremagog Watershed Association (MWA) will present on recent efforts to identify, prioritize, design, and implement Clean Water Projects along the gravel roads that surround our treasured lakes. Their talk will address common gravel road management issues, culvert upgrades, potential funding programs, permitting & design constraints, and more.
Speakers:
Patrick Hurley is MWA’s Project Manager and leads the organization’s technical and programmatic work related to restoration project assessment, survey, design, permitting, and construction oversight. Prior to joining MWA, Patrick spent nine years in various technical roles as a water quality scientist, hydrologist, and ecological restoration specialist for ICF Jones & Stokes, Watershed Consulting, LLC, and Winden Water, LLC.
Gabryel Gianoni is MWA’s Project Coordinator, performing natural resource assessments and maintaining project continuity by identifying, developing, and implementing watershed and habitat restoration projects. Gabby enjoys developing projects that balance threatened species habitat restoration and water quality benefits with multiple land use constraints. Gabryel is a trained field ecologist and has spent much of her career working in restoration project coordination, analysis, planning, and monitoring. Prior to joining MWA, she was the Conservation Science Coordinator at the Walker Basin Conservancy in Nevada.
