On September 5th, 2024, the Federation of Vermont Lakes and Ponds held our Annual Meeting.
The meeting included:
- The FOVLAP business meeting, including: a review of FOVLAP’s activities since the previous annual meeting, updates to the bylaws, and election of officers
- How the Shoreland Protection Act came to be, from science to advocacy – Kellie Merrill – Inland Lake Monitoring Scientist and Aquatic Biologist
- Summary of 10 years of SPA implementation, outreach efforts, enforcement actions, gaps and lessons learned – Misha Cetner – Regulatory Section Lead and Environmental Analyst
- Informal panel and audience discussion on the future of the Shoreland Protection Act – Kellie Merrill, Misha Cetner, and Alison Marchione
- Lake Issues Update – Peter LaFlamme – Watershed Management Division Director & Bethany Sargent – Watershed Management Division Deputy Director
- A summary of the lake association survey
- Individual lake reports from member lake associations
