Scholarship

In recognition of the value we place on stewardship of our natural resources and the encouragement of the next generation to become active citizens, FOVLAP offers a $500 scholarship each year to support students seeking education beyond high school interested in environmental science studies. The scholarship is made possible through the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC).

In order to be eligible, a student must:

* attend an accredited school approved by the federal Title IV funding
* seek a degree in environmental studies
(preference is given to students seeking a degree in aquatic environmental study such as watershed management, water resources education or limnology)
* demonstrate academic achievement
* demonstrate financial need
* demonstrate community involvement and/or service

Each year the scholarship recipient is invited to attend our Lake Seminar and Annual Meeting.

If you know of a student who shares our passion for lakes and ponds, please have them contact Vermont Students Assistance Corporation (VSAC) at https://www.vsac.org.

The deadline to apply for the next school year is February 11, 2022.

In 2007, John Washburn from Parker Pond and David Wood from Lake Salem suggested that FOVLAP offer an annual scholarship to a student interested in pursuing a career in Environmental Science focusing on lakes and ponds. The board agreed that this would be important to the health of our beautiful lakes and ponds with generations to come and organized a committee to work with VSAC to create this scholarship to be awarded annually.
